Large Victorian Scumble Painted Pine Chest of Drawers.  This beautiful chest has been scumble painted to represent golden Oak.   It has a total of 7 drawers but gives the appearance of having 8, 2 small drawers to the left and the centre drawer and right hand side drawer being deep enough to accomodate hats, with 3 long drawers beneath.  The knobs are turned and it stands on bracket feet.

In original condition, structurally sound with age related surface wear in places and damage to one knob.

Scumble painting was common practice during the Victorian era to make a relative plain and cheap piece of furniture such as Pine appear to be a more expensive wood such as Oak, Walnut and Mahogany.
