A Victorian Painted Pine Artists Chest of Drawers. C.1850. Originating from Eton College, England, this piece of furniture came from the Art Department, the inside of the drawers having splodges of paint and the top having wonderful graffiti created by the students with carved initials and sketches of figures including one that looks like the Duke of Wellington.
Historic graffiti at Eton College is a celebrated part of its living heritage, with signatures and markings from students carved into the stone walls, wood paneling, and furniture.
It has 6 shallow drawers with turned knobs to one side and an open cupboard space with a shelf on the other.
Standing on turned bun feet.
A very practical piece of furniture with history!
