An interesting pair of late 19th C. Oak Ceremonial Chairs, Gothic influenced. The decorative lettering is in Olde English and spells the name KESTEUAN, which in modern English is now KESTEVAN, a council district in Lincolnshire.The chairs are of a height that indicates they were made so the person/s seated at them were at a higher level than others in their company and therefore more important.
